I’m home from my 3 nights in paradise, in the Isle of Spice, Grenada. An absolute privilege of being able to celebrate my birthday with an escape from the cold. If you rather a visual diary of my trip, than check out my TikTok & IG Reel’s linked below!
Our 3-night, 4-day escape was split between two properties, the first half was at Silversands Grand Anse and the remaining at Silversands Beach House. The perfect blend of luxury, local beauty and unforgettable local flavor. Silversands Grand Anse is a larger scale, modern resort located on the Grand Anse Beach. Grand Anse offers extensive facilities, multiple restaurants, and a lively atmosphere. Silversands Beach House is a smaller, more intimate boutique property. Offering seclusion, a quieter beach, with full access to the main resort’s amenities.
Here’s how my trip unfolded:
Day 1: Arrival & Check-in to Ocean View Penthouse at Silversands Grand Anse
The moment our car pulled up to Silversands Grand Anse, our faces beamed with delight! I knew this trip was going to be special. Right from the entrance of the resort you have a direct view of Silversands pool, which is the longest infinity pool in the Caribbean. Warm and inviting staff greeted us with handcrafted cocktails before taking us to our suite.
Located on the iconic Grand Anse Beach, the resort blends sleek, modern architecture with the natural beauty of Grenada’s coastline.
Day one was all about settling in, but not before giving our Ocean View Penthouse all of its deserving praise. The penthouse was located on the top floor of the resort building, providing sweeping views of the Caribbean Sea and coastline through floor-to-ceiling windows.
Modern touches, such as a motorized bed canopy which provided a dramatic unveiling of the sunrise every morning. The private terrace quickly became my favourite place to enjoy cocktails and coffee.
With time to spare till my birthday dinner reservation at the resort’s Asian restaurant, Asiatique. We made our way to the Grenadian Grill, to enjoy poolside bites and drinks. A cold Carib brew immediately unlocked vacay mode! I loved the timing of it all, no over-planning, rushing, simply sun, salt air and stillness.
Come dinner time, Asiatique restaurant had the most beautiful birthday set up for me. Thai and Asian fusion dishes accompanied by the most flavour packed pepper sauce, all of my favourite things in one place!! Falling on Super Bowl weekend, our evening entertainment consisted of the resort showing the game & half time show, with curated offerings.
Day 2: Beach House Serenity
The morning began with made to order breakfast. Fresh local fruits, any breakfast item you could ask for prepared and served promptly by staff. Mango compote on pancakes is something I will request here on out!!
To work off the hearty breakfast, a stroll along Grand Anse beach was much needed. Just a 5-7 minute walk down the beach, is the Spice Market. Offering spices, hand crafted goods and more.
While there was still time until our move to the next property and plenty of sun to enjoy. Pool dips and cabana side margaritas were enjoyed.
Later that afternoon, and for the second half of the trip, we experienced the more intimate and boutique style property, Silversands Beach House.
Where Grand Anse felt expansive and iconic, Beach House feels serene and secluded. Just a kilometre or so away from the airport, you will go from the airport to the beach in just minutes. Less travelling and more vacationing.
Dinner was at Azzurro, the Beach House’s on site restaurant. Serving Italian cuisine with Caribbean flavours with panoramic views of the bay.
Day 3: Spice Tour, Cocoa, History & Annandale Falls
After enjoying cocoa tea and coconut bakes, we made our way to an early morning excursion. Our first stop was discovering why Grenada is given the name “Spice Island”. A visit to Laura’s Herb and Spice Garden was like stepping into the island’s fragrant heart. We learned about an array of spices, with nutmeg being at the heart of it all. Alongside medicinal and culinary uses of local herbs. It wasn’t just was informative but immersive.
Next stop was Fort Frederick.
If Colonial history is your cup of tea then this tour has lots to offer. Information about French and British influence, colonial architecture, and stories that shaped the island are offered by knowledgeable guides. If not, then the panoramic views of St. George’s harbor were breathtaking and surely worth your while!
We wrapped the day up at Annandale Falls, a lush, tropical waterfall tucked into the rainforest. You can even get behind the falls for an Instagrammable shot!
Taking advantage of being able to use amenities at both resorts, we returned to Silversands Grand Anse for the infinity pool and white sand beach. Spent several hours just soaking up the sun until it was time to return and get ready for Dinner at the Aquarium restaurant. Located beachside on Magazine beach, offering international cuisine with a Caribbean flare.
Day 4: Last day & Authentic Grenadian Flavors
On our final morning, Grenada’s Tourism board graciously coordinated a breakfast experience for us. We arrived at Friday’s Restaurant & Bar, the owner and her son greeted us. In true Friday restaurant fashion, they handed us a shot of rum each to get “sanitized” and prepare to have the most authentic Grenadian breakfast. If you know me personally, then you know I inhale my meals, I’m always the first one done at the table. The food was cooked with so much care, that I found myself slowing savouring the assortment of traditional dishes with bold spices, accompanied with cocoa tea. Perched in a treehouse like space, the restaurant offered end to end views overlooking neighbouring homes and lush greenery. I am in fact still thinking about that bake and baigan.
3 nights in Grenada was both adventurous and restorative. From spice gardens to historic forts, waterfalls to five-star stays, and unforgettable local cuisine. This perfect was the perfect blend and exactly what I needed. Staying at both Silversands properties gave us the best of both worlds. Modern indulgence and boutique tranquility, with the excursions giving us a touch of the local island flare. Luxury in Grenada isn’t loud. It’s spacious.
Having travelled from end to end of the Caribbean, I am always filled with so much appreciation for what each destination has to offer. This Caribbean escape to Grenada, went beyond the typical resort experience and if you’re in search for a similar getaway, then Grenada should absolutely be on your list!!! There are some trips that relax you and then there are trips that completely reset you.
Until next time, Spice Island!
