Urban Decay x Game of Thrones Collection

Urban Decay x Game of Thrones Collection

I’ve been playing with the Urban Decay x Game of Thrones Collection for over a month now and have finally sat down to pour out my thoughts. As a non-Game of Thrones watcher, I can’t offer any connections between the show and the products. So this review will be solely on the products themselves! Now, that the pressure is off lol, lets dive in!

You don’t need to be a GOT fanatic to appreciate the insanely intricate details of the packaging.

The eyeshadow palette steers away from the traditional palette design and is in the form of a slide out. A 3D pop up iron throne is housed on the cover of the palette.

Game of Thrones Eyeshadow Palette contains 20 eyeshadows. Which are divided into four quads representing the different houses from the GOT series. These are highly rich in pigmentation and a dream to work with. As they blend with such ease. Granted the larger than normal size of this palette, it definitely isn’t a travel friendly piece, but who would want to risk travelling with this gem anyways?!?
Game of Thrones Eyeshadow Palette retails for $77 CAD.

Game Of Thrones 24/7 Glide On Eye Pencils were released in four stunning shades.

  • Dragon Smoke – deep plum
  • Lannister Gold – metallic gold
  • Winterfell Snow – icy white
  • The Night King – deep teal

Eye pencils are one item that when I find the right formulation, I stick with it. Who wants to deal with tugging and non-creamy formulations when working with such delicate skin around the eyes? Not me, that’s for sure! The 24/7 Glide On Eyepencils provide long lasting, full coverage, bold pigment and more! They are the ideal pencil for your waterline as they are extremely long-wearing!
Game of Thrones Eye Pencils retail for $25 CAD.N

Next up are the Vice Lipsticks, which come housed in unique casings. I’ve learned each represent each one of the houses. Available in 4 shades with varying finishes. They have a buttery smooth consistency and provide light to medium coverage.

  • Sansa Stark
  • Cersei Lannister
  • Daenerys Targaryen
  • White Walker

Vice Lipsticks retail for $23 CAD.

Game of Thrones Dragon’s Dracarys Blood Lip & Cheek Tint is honestly one of my least used products. I don’t often reach for tints and that is because I prefer full coverage products. Although I was intimidated by the deep red colour of the tint, it is actually quite sheer upon application and provides the most subtle amount of colour. It retails for $33 CAD.

Game of Thrones Mother Of Dragons Highlighting Palette comes housed in a unqiue dragon scale design. Housing 3 highlighting shades. The formula of the highlighters are quite fine, which allow for the pigments to sit smoothly on the skin, without enhancing pores and imperfections.

  • Drogon – icy pink
  • Viserion – metallic golden nude
  • Rhaegal – metallic bronze

Game of Thrones Mother Of Dragons Highlighting Palette retails for $45 CAD.

Available online and in store at Sephora and www.urbandecay.ca.

Wet N Wild Rebel Rose Collection

Wet N Wild Rebel Rose Collection

As someone who adores roses and all things inspired by them, I am thrilled to be trying out the Wet N Wild Rebel Rose Collection! This collection is a limited edition launch for Spring 2019. Since there’s a generous selection of products, lets dive right in!

From the get go, I’ve stated over and over again, how Wet N Wild’s products have never failed me. I’ve been using their range from my ‘tween’ years, now into adulthood! I absolutely love seeing how they’ve evolved, and how they manage to provide quality, inclusive products at such an affordable price. Now that you know my sentiments about the brand itself, let’s begin with one of the most eye catching pieces from the collection.

The Rebel Rose Makeup Brushes are the most stunning brushes I’ve come across as of late. Available in a Blush Brush and Eyeshadow Brush, their brush heads have been created to look like roses. Including the dainty stems, leaves and all! Retailing for $7.99 CAD.

Photo Focus Rose Multi-Use Oil

A multi-purpose oil that is infused with floral extracts and whole rose petals! Ideal for use on your face, body and nails. This oil provides intense hydration without the greasy feel. However you might want to steer clear of this if you’re sensitive to strong scents. The Photo Focus Rose Multi-Use Oil retails for $8 CAD.

Rose Primer Serum

Color Icon Cream Blush

I don’t think I’ve ever feared a product, as much as I did this one. Normally, or ever for that matter, when I reach for a blush, it isn’t black. So you can imagine the confusion I had with the Color Icon Cream Blush. This cleared once I swatched it on my arm, only to realize it’s a berry hued blush. I suggest using this light-handedly as it’s very pigmented. The Color Icon Blush retails for $4.99 CAD.

Color Icon Eyeshadow Quad

Available in 3 variations, each quad contains 2 shimmer & 2 matte shades. The shadows have raised roses pressed into them, to continue the theme of Rebel Roses. Pigmentation is superb and comparable to a high end shadow. The colour selection is one that will definitely have even the most colour shy makeup lovers like myself, experimenting with colour! Each quad retails for $4.99 CAD.

  • Bed of Roses
  • Secret of Garden Rendezvous
  • House of Thorns

MegaLast Liquid Catsuit Matte Lipstick

Available in 2 shades, Deviant Damsel and Kiss of Death. Although a liquid lipstick, it provides an incredibly comfortable wear, probably due to the fact that it is formulated with Vitamin E and Macadamia.
MegaLast Liquid Catsuit Matte Lipstick retails for $4.99 CAD.

Overall, the Wet N Wild Rebel Rose Collection has some serious gems for your makeup collection! If I had to recommend one product from the range, it would have to be the Color Icon Eyeshadow Quads!

Available online at wetnwildbeauty.com and in store at retailers where Wet N Wild products are sold.

Laura Mercier Flawless Fusion Foundation

Laura Mercier Flawless Fusion Foundation

I’ve finally gathered my thoughts on the Laura Mercier Flawless Fusion Foundation. So if you’re looking for a weightless, warm-weather friendly foundation, then keep reading!

Laura Mercier’s Flawless Fusion Foundation is available in 30 shades.

Described as a lightweight, oil-free foundation. It promises to provide a flawless, full coverage finish.

The consistency of the Flawless Fusion Foundation is best described as ‘liquid silk’. That is in all honesty! I wasn’t expecting the opacity and pigmentation that it provided, given its runny, lightweight feel. The Flawless Fusion Foundation dries down to a semi-matte finish.

One point I wish I knew when I was selecting my shade, was that this foundation oxidizes. So, my perfect match would have actually been 1-2 shades lighter than 4W1.

It wears for well over 14 hours and is one of those products that continues to look better with each hour of wear. I did experience some creasing along my nose at the 8 hour mark. However, the coverage remained intact!

For the warmer months, I opt for more ‘breathable’ foundations. However, I don’t like to compromise the coverage in doing that. This truly provides the best of both worlds!

Laura Mercier Flawless Fusion Foundation retails for $60 CAD. Available online and in-store at Sephora and The Bay.

This Works Morning Expert Range

This Works Morning Expert Range

Early last year, I was introduced to the brand This Works, for their sleep improving products. Which I am so, so grateful for! As its become a range of products myself, my friends and family cannot go without. Fast forward to now, I recently got to test out the NEW This Works Morning Expert Range!

The Morning Expert range was created to address morning skin concerns. Some of mine include puffiness and dullness. I took a moment to reflect on the types of products I prefer to use in the morning versus at night. I realized I had a preference for invigorating, freshly scented products that would help facilitate the ‘waking up’ process even after I’m out of bed.

The Morning Expert range, contains a “Superblend of anti-skin-fatigue natural actives and brain sharpening essential oils – or a functional fragrance”. To help with both an inner and outer glow.

Starting off the review with the Morning Expert Hyaluronic Mask. Which is described as ‘an invigorating exfoliating mask with 10% Vitamin C and Jojoba to smooth, cleanse and vitalise lack-lustre skin’. My first impression was that it doesn’t have the traditional mask consistency but rather more like that of a scrub.

It’s a gel like consistency with micro beads. The directions suggest dampening your fingers and working the product on to your face. Then leave it on for 10 minutes. I have about 2 minutes to spare in the morning, so that’s all I can give it, 2-3 times a week.

The results are definitely instant. I noticed a much brighter and softer complexion. Plus the mild exfoliation helps prep my skin for a smoother makeup application. Morning Expert Hyaluronic Mask retails for $60 CAD.

Morning expert Multi-acid Pads

These blemish pads use blemish busting acids to help unclog pores and provide a radiant glow to the skin. Ingredients like the vitamin Niacin help with radiance and Liquorice root helps to calm any active breakouts and inflammation. I absolutely adore these in the morning! It truly is like a kickstarter for your skin.

Morning expert Multi-acid Pads retails for $50 CAD.

Next up is the Morning Expert Hyaluronic Serum. Intended to brighten tired looking skin, this serum can be worn under makeup. I will say it definitely helps with the appearance of firmer looking skin. However, if you’re going to be wearing this under your makeup. I would suggest not over-working it in to your skin. As it tends to start flaking.

Morning Expert Hyaluronic Serum retails for $57 CAD.

Lastly, but definitely one that caters the most to my skin care concerns is the Morning Expert Open Eyes.

Ingredients like Giant Kelp and Persian Silk Tree to help de-puff and brighten eyes. Whether I get 4 hours of sleep or 8. My eyes will have you guessing which one it is. My eyes are always puffy in the morning, more than the average person.

The metal application on the eye cream is life changing. The cooling touch helps facilitate the de-puffing process, much more quickly than with the cream alone. Morning Expert Open Eyes retails for $45 CAD.

The This Works Morning Expert range is available online, exclusively at Sephora.ca.

Maybelline Made For All Sensational Lipsticks

Maybelline Made For All Sensational Lipsticks

Today, I bring to you my thoughts on the recently launched Maybelline Made For All Sensational Lipsticks. Tested on 50 different skin tones, keep reading to see if this was made for YOU.

Available in 7 shades that are said to look stunning on all complexions.

The shades are:

It has a buttery consistency and hence requires at least 2 swipes to reach full opacity. Even after the colour has worn off, lips are still left feeling incredibly hydrated. All of the shades except # 382 have a lustrous finish to them, whereas 382 is a matte finish.

I personally am obsessed with the shades Mauve for Me and Spice for Me!

The Sensational lipsticks wear for about 4-5 hours. If you’re looking to lengthen the wear time, apply a lip liner beforehand!

Also to be noted, compared to other Maybelline lipsticks, this one is free of any scents!

So do I think these shades are diverse? Yes, indeed I do! As a tan-skinned individual, I’ve often rolled my eyes at a lipstick that is said to be a ‘universal nude’. Mainly because it looks more like a chalky mess on my lips, that was clearly not created for my complexion. However, the #MADEFORALL Sensational Lipsticks have undertones that work for cool, warm and neutral undertones. From the feedback I’ve been receiving on my posts, many fair and deep skinned folks happen to share the same thoughts!

Maybelline Made For All Sensational Lipsticks retail for $8.95 CAD and are available at all major drug stores where Maybelline products are sold.
